Model: Kate King

Kate King is a new face on the runways this season. King went from a fresh face at Elite to a rising model to watch. In just a matter of months, she transitioned from her feerst ever runway to being the face of the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011 campaign. Kate was scouted on Broadway coming out of Les Miserables at thirteen, and though the Canadian model was always interested in the fashion world, she decided to wait until she was seventeen before she entered into the modeling industry. After practicing with runway coach Mac Folkes, Kate stepped out on to the rag & bone runway. During her first season, she walked for Alexander Wang, Diane von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, and Dior.

NYFW: Extreme Runways

Models and Ice Skaters at Elise Overland
This season, some designers have taken a different approach to just having models walk down a runway to showcase their clothing. Elise Overland chose for her models to hit the ice in her clothes. Models stood in an iceskating rink at the Standard Hotel New York while professional ice skaters spun around them. Everyone on the ice was dressed head to toe in Elise Overland. At Kaelen, models rode mechanical bulls. At Band of Outsiders, male models were lowered from the ceiling attached to harnesses before walking the runway.
